Great hotel with a wonderful spa. I was there with during the last days of snow (in march) and it is totally worth it to do the spa circuit and go out in the snow and then back into the differnet saunas and warm waters. I would love to come back, although it is in a pretty remote city (not in the way to any other place, except Abisko National Park)
This hotel is located 3 km from Kiruna Central Station and 2 km from Kiruna Church. It offers free Wi-Fi, along with free access to a large sauna.

Easy check in, nice large car park. Room was spacious for two people. Bathroom was newer than photos indicated which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast included is always a bonus and there was adequate options for the stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Steam sauna works as expected. Additional information for future guests - dinner is NOT included. I say this as I noticed recent reviews mentioning this and wanted to clarify for future travellers.

A comfortable living area and sauna provided space and amenity away from a cell-like twin room. Other guests were very helpful.
Situated only 5 km from Kiruna, Máttaráhkká Northern Light Lodge offers beautiful mountain views. Facilities include a sauna, a hot tub and lounge with a fireplace.

Perfect location surrounded by nature and away from the city, there are snowshoes and skis that can be used for free. Some activities, such as snowmobiles, have the starting point at the same hotel, since they share an adventure agency.

Highly recommend some of the activities they offer.

Spacious home, well-equipped facilities in a quiet little neighbourhood. Made me realise how much I needed heated bathroom floors in my own home.

They are moving the city so the old city looks like a ghost town. There is almost nothing to do and you don't see people on the street. Lots of accumulated snow and many fenced areas. The new city is not well established. It looks like a construction site and has few restaurant options. I didn't find any souvenir shops open to buy gifts. The center closes at 3pm and there is nothing to do in the city. I recommend taking trips outside the city, such as sledding, snowmobiling, and not wasting time in the city center until the move is completely completed.

A super cute small town in the middle of the Swedish arctic.
A super cute small town in the middle of the Swedish arctic. Make sure to book your tours in advance as there is not too much to do in Kiruna itself. Walking through the city and the surrounding nature is absolutely gorgeous in winter. Take care that the Buses needed to go to different places are very unreliable and don't run on weekends or holidays (especially the ones going to ICE hotel and jukkasväri). Not many restaurant options and many were closed when I was there (Christmas time) or closed early.

I wouldn't spend more than 4 days in Kiruna, and make sure you book lightsofvikings.com for northern lights hunting, they do everything professionally, you wouldn't regret it. We saw aurora borealis. And dog sledding. Ice hotel is a must visit! really like how they do it, and about 10-15 minutes walk you can see reindeer farm! And we don't like the old city, because they move the city to the new city, giving us the impression like in the walking dead movie, no one there, so quiet and no life, especially in winter.

We enjoyed all the activities we had in the beautiful landscapes of Kiruna, from dogsledding, to northern lights hunt, to snowmobile, to visiting a Saami village and reindeers. We highly recommend this place, preferably staying outside of the center that feels closer to nature.

Kiruna is a nice city, quite, clean, the land is beutifull.
Kiruna is a nice city, quite, clean, the land is beutifull. The visitor center in the mine has to be visited and Abysko National Park. In winter snowmobile has to be tried. Their is nice panaroma about the city from a mountine where seat lift or car takes on.

That was a real winter vacation with a lot of snow and cold.
That was a real winter vacation with a lot of snow and cold. I can’t say that I would want to live there permanently but just for a visit it was a great experience. We had a lot of fun with activities like Husky-tour, Northern-light tour, visiting Ice-hotel…
The room was clean and comfortable. Location of the hotel is perfect and in walking distance of the midnight sun trail and the city center itself. Note that the city is moving so the location of the hotel will probably change in the future.
Staff were friendly but not very social. However, I found this to be common for this region in Sweden. People just keep to themselves.
Breakfast was basic but has everything you need.
Ambiance of the pub downstairs was very nice and cosy.
A nice hotel in the downtown of Kiruna, already been there for a second time. A hotel with interesting layout and spirit of 80s-90s. Good location, free parking and sauna. Everything is very convenient and comfortable. Unfortunately will be gone soon with the part of the city. As a bonus one can hear (and feel!) a night explosions in the ore mine, a great Kiruna experience.
The hostel is very clean, the location is good, you have some dark spots around it to watch the Aurora. We went close to the Camp Ripan and also behind the hostel there is a small hill that you can go up and it is dark once the ski resort lights are off. Breakfast is good and the restaurant, Ann's, is also very good, good value for what you get.
The camp is in a very nice location, close to the ice hotel (specially if you can walk through the frozen river), the igloo was exactly how shown in the information. Personal was kind. They pick you up and drop you off but its only twice a day so you need to make sure it works with your transportation schedule. Breakfast was complete and good.
I liked overall feeling of the hotel (the room, reception, restaurant) and also the facilities - Sauna and Skybar at the top of the building with amazing view, I liked relax zone with fireplace near reception. The staff in the reception was very friendly and helpfull, therefore the accomodation procedures went fluent and really quick.
The location, you can cross the road to the bus stop and take the bus wherever you want. The hotel really helps you with information about which bus to take and at what time. The bus is also waiting to take you to the hotel from the airport. The breakfast is excellent, the room is big and the shower is nice and comfortable.
Alta camp is a very nice place to stay. We enjoyed the lake for swimming and boat and we appreciated the midnight sunrise. The camping is well located for hicking and visiting Kiruna or icehotel.
Above all, people are very nice and helpful! Thanks to Miriam and Leiv for your help.
Location not right in the town center (just a few minutes away) in the best spot of Kiruna with pretty typical buildings and woods. The breakfast is wonderful with a huge variety of food. room and bathroom were clean and the receptionists, both the lady and the boy, very kind.
Camp Ripan has a good and central location in Kiruna close to the old city center. The cabins have a basic interior with a tiny kitchen. The bathroom is also quite small. The rooms were very clean and tidy and perfectly fine for a two nights stay with two children.
The owners were so nice! Our car got stuck on our way to the hotel, and they drove out to help us. Overall, they were super sweet and helpful throughout the stay. The bed was also really comfortable and it was nice and cozy in the cabin. I truly love this place!
the place looks a lot like The Shining and the breakfast and the beds are (listen to this): stunning. the best location and the best place to have a very good sleep to have a full day and night activities (the Kiruna Tours is 12 min walk).
Camp Ripan was very clean and the cabins with 4 beds were really cute. The location was great and the breakfast (Which was included for us) was wonderful. the spa was good too and they gave you bathing suits in case you forgot yours.
Very accommodating and kind staff. Very good restaurant and bar on-site, with very good breakfast, lunch and dinner offer. Good, central location, within 5 min walk to the airport bus stop. I would definitely return to this hotel.
The breakfast was super nice, better than expected. All we could think of was there to choose from. Th elocation of the hotel right across the Kiruna church and very close to the bus station was also very convenient.
The owner was very friendly when we arrived and all was in order ready for check-in.
The location was good as we stayed there specifically to visit the ice hotel just a few kilometers down the road.
A small, quaint Sami-run hotel in a quiet corner of Kiruna. Good wifi, a decent-sized room, comfy if rather narrow beds, on-site parking and a good breakfast at a reasonable price.
