Swindon is great for being a central base with lots of choices (so many!) for pubs, breakfast, coffee, dinner, nightlife, while making day trips to explore the Cotswolds, Stonehenge, Oxford, Bath, Marlborough, horseback riding, hiking, and charming villages of Wiltshire. Multiple buses from all directions stop there, as does the National Express coach service from Heathrow, plus there's the train and taxis.
Old Town is the place to stay to get the most out of your visit. Closer to the train station there are some vacant properties and it's a bit rougher around the edges.

I really liked Swindon. I traveled by train.
I really liked Swindon. I traveled by train. Train was on time, it was clean, kept informed of where we were, easy to get tickets, all simple no probs. If you wanted to travel by bus it’s a stone throw away from the train station. A short walk to the city centre. Plenty of shops to spend your money in. Plenty of place to eat. I sat in cafe and had a jacket potato and a tea £10 bargin! All good. Would definitely return.

We didn't have time to explore very much on a one night trip, but we were impressed with the cycle infrastructure and the variety of restaurants and pubs, though some areas of the town were a little run down and shady.
The bigWe rode through Lydiard park and were very impressed with it as a nice destination. Seemed like a lovely place to go with friends and family for a picnic and a walk or to jog or cycle around.

I used to live in Swindon and there are parts to avoid, ann the bottom of town isn't what it used to be, but for a great night out, there is Old Town. For country walks there is Lydiard Park and Coate Water. The surrounding villages and towns and close to the Cotswolds, Swindon is great for a central point

I stayed here for a course being held at the venue.
My stay was perfectly comfortable, clean and facilities just right.
Breakfast was delicious. It would've been nice to have the option of an evening meal.
Overall, I was very happy with my stay.
Very quiet. The room was nice. The staff were lovely. It was a few minutes walking distance from all the main places I wanted to go (and was opposite the house I grew up in so that was nice for nostalgic reasons). Reasonably priced. I liked too that check out time was 11. I've been to hotels before where check out time is quite early and so you end up rushing and then worrying that you might have forgotten something. It was nice being able to get ready to leave leisurely. 100% when I come back to Swindon, this will be the hotel I stay at.
I can't fault this hotel for the money. The room was spacious and very comfortable, the bar, lounge and leisure facilities were great and the staff were polite and friendly. It is a very big hotel/conference complex and I imagine it would be busier and more expensive when events were on, but for the price I paid, it was excellent value for money. There is also some lovely countryside to explore around it - The Ridgeway and Barbury Castle. A few minutes drive into Swindon and Marlborough too.
This is a proper 'studio' type apartment: a bedroom, shower-toilet room, and a lounge-kitchen, with a cosy, outside garden area screened from the owner's garden for a little privacy. Great facilities, friendly and helpful hostess, comfortable bed, and a good, quiet, village location, east of Swindon, but only minutes from the A419 junction. Good access for the M4 motorway. Off-road parking at property in quiet cul-de-sac. I would definitely stay at The Lilypad again.
I recently stayed at Blonsdon House hotel and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautifully located near Swindon, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I especially want to compliment the manager, Mr. Martin, who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. The kids enjoyed the playing ground, football field, and the tennis court. I would highly recommend Blonsdon House hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay.
This is a lovely hotel in the centre of Old Town Swindon which is the best part for Night life ,Lots of good bars and places to eat . Hotel did a lovely breakfast and the food looked lovely as well .Its got a real buzz with a music played till the early hours though I didn't hear much but I did bring ear plugs just in case .Lovely park very close by to if you like a nice walk
The hotel/conference centre is attached to the Manor House with a large park. The whole site makes a very positive impression. The Manor is very well restored. Hotel is probably recently refurbished. The price is very moderate. Restaurant is not expensive and good enough. Staff is friendly and helpful.
I can it truly recommend for the stay around Swindon.
This place is awesome! The best hotel you will ever experience stay with for a very very very reasonable price! Infact you will need a day to just explore the hotel and its park!
If you are considering a trip to swindon! This is the best! Just a drive away from hotspot areas. Also has good taxi services!
It was in a quite part of Swindon but not too far from the town centre. Staff were lovey and always happy to help and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant two if the four nights we were there and the food was really nice and well presented.
The apartment was clean, tidy, comfortable and well maintained. Good communication in the lead up to our stay and the location was close to Swindon town centre.
The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay!
The hotel was easy to find, parking was easy, the room was quiet but a bit small for the three of us. Staff were very helpful and accommodating opening up the conference room for us to have breakfast as it was exceptionally busy.
The hotel was excellent, super clean, new and the best part was that they accepted our dog and were really friendly with him. The food in the restaurant was outstanding. We would definitely come back.
After seeing previous reviews I was pleasantly surprised at how good this hotel was! I would stay here again and would recommend it to others for a short stay .
