Hotel staff really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very clean in all areas of hotel. Spacious rooms and lovely modern en-suites. We were staying as a group of friends for a birthday. Great location in terms of easy access to Newcastle centre and the room rate was good value.

Nothing my daughter and I didn’t feel safe to stay there after seeing the reception and toliets. There was no one there to check us in, but there was a key to a room left lying around for anyone to use. The telephone number was just an automated dead end. We had to do a 3 hour drive home after the Women’s England game to arrive home at 2.30 am and still pay £63 for a room we didn’t use! Nothing like the write up.
Conveniently located off the A1 at the Metro Centre, this hotel is 10 minute drive from Newcastle city centre.

On arrival to the hotel it was easy to find and park, looked very clean and inviting, unfortunately I can’t say the same about the reception staff. There was no welcome from the male receptionist (his trousers half way down his backside), no polite or friendly demeanour just…Name?..Address?..Reg Number? Then handed keycard. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the room, and facilities. On returning very late and hungry from an event, the night receptionist was absolutely wonderful and very helpful offering advice on where to buy food.
The bed was very small, no option for a larger bed only small doubles and although I found the bed very comfortable and slept like a baby, my husband found it too soft and very uncomfortable, preferring to sleep on the sofa.
Breakfast was self serve and there was a limited choice which we expected after staying at other Holiday Inns however the cooked breakfast items were very salty and over cooked. The morning receptionists attitude was much the same as the previous day’s receptionists, no good morning, no smile and when asking where to find something he just pointed to it without speaking. When leaving and handing in our key card we didn’t even get a thank you. There was a vast difference between the day and night staffs work attitude’s, obviously the day staff don’t enjoy their job and shouldn’t be in the hospitality business.
Offering elegant and modern rooms with 40-inch Smart TVs, Hotel Balmoral is 15 minutes’ walk from St James’s Park, home of Newcastle United. It features a Punjabi restaurant and free Wi-Fi.

The accommodation was like a self contained apartment in the woods. It was superbly appointed with interesting additions. The breakfast was varied. The homemade food was reasonably priced and was of excellent quality.

Checked how to find the accommodation before hand and walked right in with no problems. Met by the owner who was lovely, very friendly and clearly very proud of what they had created.
Accommodation was just beautiful, fantastic art work and general decor. Very comfortable and made for a great stay.
The evening meal was delivered to the door, warm and very tasty. Extra goodies, lunch and general facilties were very well thought through.
